How to Make Homemade Baby Food in Your Babycook®

If you haven’t heard, there’s a new approach to making baby food that’s taking the world by storm. Okay, maybe not the whole world (just yet), but odds are if you’re reading this it’s about to take over yours! So get ready, because making fresh baby food has never been easier, quicker or cleaner than this.

With its one-handed operation, you can make baby food in less than 20 minutes with your Babycook® baby food maker. Sound too good to be true? Think again. The Babycook® baby food maker is not only designed to steam your fruits, veggies and meats, but it blends them into creamy (or chunky) purees too. The best part is it’s all going down in one bowl. Yes, that means you can say goodbye to various pots and pans. Instead, say hello to the 20 minutes you’ll save from dishes.

To make your picture-perfect recipe, place your ingredients into the steam basket. Depending on what you’re cooking, you’ll then fill the water level (marked on the bowl) to 1, 2, or 3. Each water level equals 5 minutes of cook time, so which water level you need all depends on what you're cooking. Ingredients with more water content such as apples only need water level 1, whereas things such as root vegetables need water level 2 or 3. Poultry, meats and fish always use water level 3. Fill the water into the reservoir and press the steam button. Now, go relax and play with your little one!

When your Babycook® is done steam cooking, you’ll know by a slow beeping noise and flashing light on the steam button. Voila, your ingredients are soft as apple pie! Using your included Babycook® spatula, you can then transfer the contents into the blending bowl. With one hand. YEP. If you have a fussy baby who just doesn’t want to let go, no worries. You can still make their food with ease.

When it comes to blending, it really depends on where your little one is at in their solids journey. You can blend in short increments until your desired puree texture is reached. If you want a thinner consistency, simply add water and blend for longer. If they're older and you want thick and chunky, you've also got that control. And voila! You’re done.

Now, you can serve in our glass meal set or store in our glass containers. We recommended storing purees in the fridge for no longer than 3/4 days at a time for optimal freshness. If you’re batch cooking, place the purees into individual containers, such as our Multiportions Freezer Trays and stick them into the freezer. When you’re ready to use them, simply defrost them by placing them into the Babycook® steam basket on water level 2.

So that’s the basics. You’ve got your Babycook® baby food maker and now you’re ready to start whipping up some incredible homemade baby food. For recipe inspiration, check out our cookbooks or other blog recipes. Happy feeding!
